Butler County Prosecutor’s Office selected JustWare | Prosecutor to help them administrate justice promptly, openly, and evenhandedly to their citizens.

Butler County Prosecutor’s Office needed a single case management system that could handle its criminal, civil, and juvenile divisions, while meeting the increasing reporting and document automation needs of the office.
To ensure the prompt, open, and evenhanded administration of justice to the citizens it serves, Butler County Prosecutor’s Office selected JustWare | Prosecutor to replace an inflexible legacy system as their new case management system.
The significant differences between criminal, civil, and juvenile cases make it difficult to use a single software solution. However, we found that JustWare provided a substantial amount of flexibility, which enabled us to ultimately meet the needs of all of our divisions.

Butler County’s civil division is much more event-driven and tracks different information than its criminal division. To address these different needs, a New Dawn project team set up unique workflow rules, reports, and documents that only applied to specific divisions. This automation enables cases to move through each of the county’s different divisions quickly and correctly, based on their case type.
“The amount of available information about individuals, case participants, and events far exceeds the capabilities of our previous system. We are tracking more information and making it available to more people in a variety of ways,” said Gates. “Information, which was pretty well locked up in our old system, is now available for document automation, managing reports, and communicating with the public.”
COMMUNITY IMPACT
In addition to JustWare, Butler County purchased JusticeWeb Public Portal to give online access to specific information for key agencies. For example, authorized law enforcement personnel can find out exactly when and where officers need to appear for cases in which they are involved.
The Butler County Prosecutor’s Office demanded the speed and efficiency of a technology solution that would not only streamline their workflow, but simplify the flow of justice for the citizens of Butler County.
Software that is simple and effective allows the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office to move cases forward through the justice process, while fighting for the best interests of victims and the community as a whole.
