In the early 1940s, commodities like eggs, butter, and meat were in short supply. During this time, C.P.C. Gilman penned the words:
There’s a whining at the threshold,
There’s a scratching at the floor.
To work! To work! In Heaven’s name!
The wolf is at the door!
From this poem, M.K.M. Fisher got the title of her cookbook, How to Cook a Wolf. Fisher’s objective was to show that even under difficult circumstances, it was possible to not only survive, but also eat well by taking advantage of what was available. She subsequently offered a variety of inexpensive, nourishing, and tasty recipies.
As this applies to today’s justice community, while budgets are cut, personnel are reduced, and caseloads are on the increase, it is very possible to not only survive but deliver effective justice at the same time. We’ll show you how!
