Protecting data from unauthorized disclosure is a key concern for community corrections agencies. While you must store information regarding the individuals with whom you work, federal laws, such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and Title 42 of Federal Regulations privacy policies, forbid you from sharing any details of their information with anyone who does not absolutely need it. They also require you to use the standards developed for data exchange when transmitting data over the internet.

JustWare enables you to comply with the most stringent privacy policies through its extensive security rules, which include JustWare security profiles, data partitioning, user authentication, and data exchange standards.

JustWare security profiles

JustWare provides default security groups that you can modify or allows you to create your own custom security groups (such as general user, super user, financial user, view-only user, and administrator). Users will only see the screens, fields, and functionalities relevant to them. You may define user privileges for each user and/or security group as view-only or to include a combination of the abilities to insert, update, and delete.

Data partitioning

Using powerful data partitioning, JustWare can partition data down to the row level. This partitioning allows agencies to define confidential data and limit access to this data. You can limit access to prescriptions, physician notes, clinical notes, drug screen results, etc. You can also define specific phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, and instructions when communicating with your offenders as confidential. Persons with permission to access the records are tracked. Through a combination of security roles and detailed data partitioning, JustWare allows you to easily maintain all confidential data.

User authentication

To provide central authentication and authorization, JustWare uses Microsoft’s Active Directory (AD) services. Integrated security can be set up so users can use a single password to access JustWare and the network. Active Directory services allow users to set up their passwords, with system administrators specifying the length and complexity of user passwords, the frequency of required password changes, and the automatic expiration of passwords.

Data exchange standards

New Dawn’s data exchange platform, JusticeBroker, follows data exchange standards (HIPAA, NIEM, and Global JXDM) in exchanging your data. By using the HIPAA standards, your agency can automatically send critical and confidential medical, contact, and prescription information with the confidence that the information will preserve confidentiality required by HIPAA. Our project management team will work closely with you to determine the best business processes to maintain this vital information in your JustWare database.
